Embracing a Holistic Approach to Wellness: Wellbeing Beyond Physical Health — and How to Get Started

In a world obsessed with quick fixes, surface-level solutions, and endless debates over which diet (paleo, keto, vegan) or exercise (cardio, resistance training, yoga) is best, more and more people are "exiting the matrix" in search of something more meaningful, holistic, and lasting.

Inspired by a recent episode of The Great Connect podcast, "The Full Stack of Wellbeing: Moving Beyond Physical Health", this post offers a basic introduction to holistic wellbeing and simple (completely free) ways to get started.

What is wellbeing?

For one thing, it's personal. A better question might be, "What does wellbeing mean to you?" Or, "What does it mean for you to be well?"

Maybe it's a sense of inner peace, feeling grounded throughout your day, the ability to experience joy, feeling connected to others, or a calm nervous system.

It's more than physical health or the absence of illness. It's something deeper, something you feel in your soul.

Wellbeing is so often a term that we hear people talk about, and yet we don’t really dive into, “What does wellbeing mean?” I really believe that we are transforming what the core of wellbeing actually is for us as a species. — Carrie Allen, Founder of The Human Array

What is the The Human Array's holistic approach to wellbeing?

Holistic wellness is an approach to health that considers the whole person, rather than just treating symptoms or focusing on one specific aspect of wellbeing.

At The Human Array, we explore the "full stack" of wellbeing, across six core areas:

  1. PHYSICAL: The foundation that includes nutrition, movement, and basic health

  2. MENTAL: Our thought patterns, cognitive function, and stress management

  3. EMOTIONAL: Our ability to understand, express, and regulate our emotions effectively

  4. SOCIAL: Our connections with others, quality of relationships, and sense of belonging in community

  5. SPIRITUAL: Our deeper purpose, values, and spiritual fulfillment

  6. ENERGETIC: Your personal energy field, healthy boundaries, and how environments and interactions affect you

Are you ready to take your wellbeing to the next level?

If you're reading this, you're likely ready to explore (or go deeper with) a holistic approach.

You might relate if...

  • You're a learner, a seeker, naturally curious, and/or a lifelong student.

  • You're tired of "doing everything right" and not getting the answers, results, or outcomes you're seeking.

  • You're busy (with work, family, etc.) and need time-saving guidance and support tailored to your needs.

  • You know there’s more than what conventional wellness offers.

How and where to start?

Skip the guesswork. Get straight to the good stuff.

The Human Array exists to make your journey to wellbeing feel simpler and supportive.

Wellbeing is a practice.

In life, we do the best we can with what we know.

If you're just starting to explore beyond the mainstream approach to health and wellness, it's probably because you've "been there" and "done that" enough times that you're finally willing to try something (anything) different. Even if it feels unfamiliar at first.

If you're feeling exhausted, frustrated, or stuck — we see you. We've been there too.

Give yourself grace. The most important thing is... you're here. Lean into your curiosity, trust your inner knowing, and keep learning.

When you know better, you can do better. And you might be surprised to look back and suddenly see how it's all connected one day.

Each person’s path is unique. The key is developing the discernment to recognize what truly serves our individual wellbeing and having the courage to say "no" to what doesn't.

Remember, wellbeing isn't about reaching a particular destination or checking off predetermined boxes.

Wellbeing is a practice. I don't believe that we're here in this physical form to "achieve wellbeing". It's something that we're here to cultivate and understand and learn on a day-to-day basis. — Carrie Allen, Founder of The Human Array
